Lo-o-n-ng Sunday

As I previously mentioned, I had a Cal Ripken meeting today to conduct the tournament draws for the State Touraments. This is usually a long and drawn out process with a lot of people talking, arguing and pretty much losing their tempers over the most stupid of stupid stuff. Today was no surprise. Even thought my hubby is the State Commissioner, other people that were present thought they were in charge and took over the meeting, causing other people that were present to lose their tempers. I just sat back, by an open door, due to the heat, and kept working on my stitching. Even my hubby was amazed that my mouth was still closed when all of this was going on. He later commented on the way home, that maybe I should be teaching embroidery to all of the men that were present, maybe that would make this whole process go much more smoothly. NOT! After we got home, my eyes were very tired and hot from the heat, and working in somewhat bright sunlight, that I laid down and put some cold, wet, green tea bags on my eyes for a little treat. My eyes were very grateful for my thoughtfulness! Hubby grilled some burgers, and voila! Dinner was ready, and pretty tasty I admit. I think I will take a warm, long bubble bath and work on a wool project. Here's to a great start of a new week for everyone!

PS-Hubby asked if I would like to go to dinner Thursday or Friday evening prior to me leaving for my brothers. That would be date number 3. I wonder what he is up to??

Saturday Date

I think I need to take my hubby to the doctor to make sure he is feeling OK. Or maybe aliens abducted him and replaced him with one of their own. You see, this morning, he asked me if I would like to go to the movies, for a date. A date?! My gosh, we have been married for 24 years, and we normally only go to the movies 2-3 times a year. Last week-end we went to the movies and again today. I even heard hubby tell someone on his cell phone, (Maybe it was his leader up in space!) that we went on a date. Well, no matter what the reason, maybe I should ask to speak to his leader to let them know I like this new guy! Seriously, over lunch, yes I did say this was a date, at a local deli shop in Lodi, he said he felt we should be doing more activities together since our son will most likely be moving out soon, and he thought, (key word here "He thought"), it might be easier for ME to cut the apron strings! OK Dr. Phil, let me think here for a minute, our son feels I need to cut the apron strings, well who called ME Friday late afternoon to see if I was home so I could wash and dry his good jeans so he could go out with the guys? I need to cut the apron strings, I think we both need to. Oh, by the way, I had already washed and dried his jeans prior to leaving Friday morning for work, just in case he went out with the guys! What can I say, he's still my son!! Take care!

PS-The movie we saw was Woverine-with Hugh "Gorgeous Aussie" Jackman, and it was GO-O-O-O-D!!!!!!!!

What I am Thankful For....

Where do I start? I am thankful for my wonderful family, warm and comfy home that I live in with them, my dog-Orca, my wonderful blog buddies, BP&HH and all who work there, my job-even though I sometimes complain about it...a lot, that month end is over and it is Friday, so that means Saturday and Sunday to sew, complete an UFO, and just enjoy the beautiful weather we are having here in Central California. I know there is so much more that I am thankful for, but time and space prevents me from listing them all, so I will continue this list in future blogs. Please tell me, what are you thankful for? Sometimes, we just need to remind ourselves just to put things in perspective. Here's wishing everyone a wonderful weekend! I leave you with the sign posted in the entry way of our front door. It says it all! Take care!

Just a Couple of Thoughts

Here we are, after receiving several emails from Kim as to where I was last night for class, coupled with the fact that SHE brought cookies to class, I had to pick up some dealer contracts and dropped them off at my corporate office, then I ran by BP&HH real quick, (yeah, right, it is never real quick there for me!) and I picked up my homework that Gran left me, (SEE PHOTO), picked up a new book, (SEE PHOTO), and some homespun fat quarters for wool projects, (SEE PHOTO), and also Gran had suggested it in her previous blog. I made some more stops at some more dealers, and finally got a quick bite to eat and made about what seemed 150 phone calls, OK maybe 17 phone calls, and I finally made it home! One more day and this month will be over, Yippee! Today in our little, humble town is the HS Graduation, so downtown will pretty much be shut down, and everyone will be in the stadium to watch the Class of 2009 walk the podium. I remember when I graduated, and I had all of these hopes and dreams, but also a lot of uncertainty and nervousness, where will I go, what will I do, how will I afford this, how will I afford that, but for every door that closes, God opens another. I wish the best for the Class of 2009. I think I will work on one of my homework assignments, so I don't fall too far behind! Take care!

Z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z Z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z Z-z-z-z-z-z-z-z

The heat is just beginning here in the Sacto area, and really, 98F is really not that hot, except when you go from gorgeous weather at Lake Tahoe to the heat of the Central Valley. Maybe, I am just getting old, and I just plain feel like complaining, but I am not going to. I did have a really busy day with 17 visits to different car dealers, in and out of a hot car, constantly drinking water, constantly going to the ladies room, well, you get the picture. By the time I got home, I changed clothes and layed down on our couch in our very comfy and cool living room. My son was off today, so it was nice seeing and talking to him. The next thing I knew, I was waking up and it was 8:15 pm! Oh my gosh, I had Back Home Again class tonight, I was suppose to pick up my BFF, have a quick bite of dinner with her and catch up on the last few weeks, but no-o-o-o, I feel asleep! I felt so bad, especially for my BFF, she had called and spoken to my son, who forgot to give my her message. I got up, washed my face to somewhat wake me up, and starting working on a couple of wool felt projects. 2 down, 9 to go. I have to go to our corporate office tomorrow, so I will run by BP&HH and apologize to Lindy, and pick up my homework from Gran. I received a message from Kim, she brought cookies, and I wasn't there, man, I am mad at myself. The heat took more out of me than I realized. Well, I made sure my little ice chest is clean and ready to go tomorrow with plenty of cold water and maybe an apple and some watermelon for a quick pick me up. I am not going to let this happen again!

Vacation Hangover

Boy, I was not in the mood to go back to work, nor to the doctor's appointment I had scheduled over 3 weeks ago. The Dr's appt. went fine, no biggie, work, well, I was exhausted! Rates went down, month end is this week, my boss is out on medical this week, what else could happen? My phone was ringing off the hook, literally, but that is a good thing. As I drove home, I tried to relax and think of a treat for me when I got home. When I did get home, guess what my treat was.....I went through my drawer of UFOs, wool projects and small hand work, and I threw them on our bed and I went through every single one. I cut out pieces, fused pieces, anything I could to get them ready to take and go and have something to do on the run. I counted 11 projects, so I packaged them up, and I put them in a tote bag, and I promised myself I will have them done by the end of June, then I decided by July. In July we have lots of baseball tourneys to attend, so they will be perfect. I also traced 2 patterns on muslin, to complete for my embroidery class. Tomorrow night I have Back Home Again. I don't know where the energy came from, but it truly was a welcome blessing! Here's to welcome blessing for all of you!

More Quilt Camp Comments

Sorry, but I am really tired from quilt camp. I attempted to post some more pictures, although they are not in any particular order. I did not post all of them ,I will post a couple here and there. Hubby and I did go to the movies today to see Angels & Demons. I had read the book 2 years ago at our cabin, and we both have been waiting for the movie to come out. The movie is so-o-o-o good!! I highly recommend it. I mainly finished the mountains of laundry that was waiting for me when I returned home, but at least the kitchen was very clean when I returned, and my son vacuum with out being asked to which was another nice surprise. I also returned to another surprise, my adorable Orca decided to eat my very first tomato fruit, which I was not very happy about. I think he knew I was upset, he would not come near me, and really went out of his way not to come near me. That is, until dinner, when hubby grilled a Tri Tip and salmon, well, he got the skin from the salmon, and the potato skins from our baked potatoes, then he would not leave my side the rest of the evening. I did give him a very stern talking to, so we shall see what happens to the rest of the fruit on the plant. Tomorrow, I am going to quilt my Daisy Dew Drop, so hopefully, I will have another picture to post and then we will have a Bar-B-Que with our next door neighbors. Until then, good night!

Lucy, I'm Home!

I made it home from quilt camp. Of course, I am too tired from all of the sewing, quilting,(yes, I actually did some machine quilting, then I took 2 valium! Whew). Oh yeah, I had to stop off at Unlimited Fabrics in Tahoe to buy some more buttons for the patriotic wallhanging I made, (that would be 2 wallhangings, thank you), and then to Shared Stitches which Gran and Kim had been writing about in their post. Cute shop, very friendly help, and some beautiful fabric! I will take pictures of what I bought tomorrow, I am really tired. I have been getting up early everyday, 5:20 am, but going to bed late, and my eyes are tired, well, that is enough complaining. I guess it is just catching up to me. I had a great time. I didn't get a picture of our table, but I got a few single shots, and I will post them tomorrow. The usually suspects were back, Pecan Dandy-(you know who you are!), Aunt Vickie, Lori Ann-with a lisp, Dr. Joyce, my quilt mom, and C. I have to protect their indentity to protect the innocent, if you can call them innocent. We called ourselves the Happy Campers, and we are all part of the Farkle Family. I got my Hat Party quilt done, (Kim, everyone loved it, and no, my mother in law is NOT getting it, I love it too much!), Daisy Dew Drop-almost finished, I need to quilt it before finishing it, and I did not have everything there with me to complete. Why would I ever think to read a pattern through when I don't bother to follow it to begin with?! 2 Patriotic wallhangings, and of course the two tablerunners that I also quilted. I did feel that I did accomplish a lot, and I can't wait till next quilt camp. I am going next May, I am just not able to go in Sept. Oh, I forgot, Sexy Sue and Princess Nancy, they were a hoot. Princess Nancy is so thoughtful, she bought me the cutest book marker at Shared Stitches, and Sexy Sue also got one from her, saying that our friendship is just getting stronger and stronger. I did miss my BFF, but with the Farkle Family there encouraging me constantly, need I say more. I do strongly recommend quilt camp to everyone, at least the ones that Lindy sponsors. The site is gorgeous, beautiful and so inspiring, if I could, I would go to all four camps. My very much missed bed is calling my name. I will post pictures tomorrow. It's good to be back. I missed all of my blogging friends. Oh, and I do apoligize for this late acknowledgement, but Happy Victoria Day to all of my Canadian friends. I am so sorry this is late, but I know it is an important holiday to all of you Cannucks! To my American blogging friends, have a wonderful, and safe Memorial Day. How about sewing a quilt to donate to the Vets or any group of your choice. That is what I am going to be doing this week-end. Nite!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Tomorrow I leave for quilt camp, and I should be really excited and all, but I am a little sad. I found out tonight that my BFF is not going to able to go. She is fine, just something came up. It's going to be strange not sewing next to her, but I will have to get through it. We were not able to see the movie, Angels and Demons this morning. Came to find out, the theater sold more tickets than there were seats, and we were not able to get in. However, all is not lost, we can use the tickets next Sunday. I got all of my stuff together for camp, and I will load up tomorrow. I had some loose ends to take care of this evening, laundry, sewing loose buttons back on, making sure that I cooked 2-3 extra meals to put in the fridge for hubby and son, and a fresh bag of popsicles for my baby, Orca! Yes, he gets 2 a day when it is hot. I will have to get a picture of him eating them and post it on here so all can see. Anyway, I off to take a nice warm bubble bath, before retiring to bed with a book. I am not taking my laptop as planned, so no new blogs until Friday, but I will keep notes on all the happenings. Have a great week, ya'll!

Yipee Skipee, its Friday!!

I know this is early, but you see, I am only 1 hour and 10 minutes away from starting my vacation!! I got my calls done somewhat quick and uneventful, just a few issues to contend with, but got them taken care of. Then, lucky me, I received a noticed that I owe the Sac County Library $13.70!! I guess I am helping to shorten their budget shortfall! I went online, and took care of that. Since when did overdue books get to be so expensive, anyway, I started perusing the library's listing of audio books, and OMG, they have a ton! I downloaded Pride and Prejudice, and Anna Karina. The library system has certain entered the high tech age, compare to the good, old days of going into the library and checking out no more than 7 books at a time. I miss the smell of old books, or for the library at that. In the summertime, my mom use to take us kids once a week to check out our limit of books. I was such a fast reader, that I would go through my stash in 2-3 days, and she would get impatient with me, and started making me write reports on my books! (By the way, my mom was an English Major, YUCK!) Now, it seems I hardly have the time or take the time to read, and I so miss it. Reading Gran's blog yesterday, reminded me, that we need to take time to relax and do things like read a good book, drink a cup of tea, smell fresh flowers from the garden! I am going to take my laptop with me to quilt camp, but there is no guarentee that I will be able to blog there. I may have to go to Starbucks (I know, life is tough), but I am not sure of how often or how much time I will have, but I promise not to forget any of the fun things that we do or see happen there, and I will have my camara, so I will have pictures, so I can post them when we get back a week from today. Have a wonderful Friday evening!

My Lucky Day

Last night, I was trying to catch up on some of the tv I had TIVO'd, and I was watching a show on HGTV called, "Good Buy, Bad Buy". The home inspector's name caught my attention. My maiden name is Felton, and the inspector's name was also Felton. When they showed his face I screamed, it was my cousin, Blake, who I had lost contact with since 1974! I haved stayed in contact with his little sis, Kim, but she never mentioned Blake to me at all. I never questioned anything with Kim, I did not want to stir the pot. Anyway, long story short, I went to HGTV website, to the show's credits, googled his company, and got a phone number and email address, which I promptly emailed him, explaining what happen and that I thought we were related. He responded and say, Yes, we are related, you are my cousin, Pami! I started crying. You see I have 1 brother, and there was 3 girls and 2 boys in their family. We did everything together as a family and pretty much grew up together, until their parents divorce, they moved up to the Bay Area and we stayed in So Cal, and then when my parents divorce, we lost a lot of the contact on my dad's side of the family. We have so much catching up to do! He called me tonight and we talked for an hour. Just barely scratching the surface of our family's history. We are making arraingments to hook up this summer, and he is going to surprise my dad tomorrow at his house. Oh how I wish I could be there to see my dad's face. At the end of our phone call, we both were literally in tears, after catching up so briefly. I know we will hook up and I cannot wait. I am lucky, that I know my mom's side of the family line, my dad's just a little, but when both parents are deceased and you have very little if any contact with family, I could not imagine that feeling, nor would I want to. I am going to dig out the bin of family photos to make copies for him and get all of the addresses and email addresses I have to him asap. Yes, I would definately say, today was my lucky day!

Hump Day

What is it about Wednesdays? It's the middle of the week, halfway to the week-end, but then it starts all over again. I am still trying to decide what projects to take to quilt camp. I collect a lot of primitive art patterns, especially fall and Halloween, which is my favorite time of year. I think I am going to take one patriotic project to do. I don't know, I cannot make up my mind. Too many projects to choose from, not enough time to do them! I saw Gran briefly today. I stopped by BP&HH. It was good to see her and Mona. Mona has been reading our blogs, and I always love to hear the feedback. I was so happy to announce that I finally learned how to post pictures. I am getting vacationitis, I am having a hard time to motivate myself to do my real job, but I need to get serious and get it done! Hubby and I went to watch the little guys play ball tonight. How I remember those days! We had a lot of fun remembering when our son played. Well, its off to the bedroom, to try t decide what to take. I plan to take a before and after picture of the projects as soon as I decide! Take care! Hugs!

I did it, I did it, I posted pictures to my blog!!!!!!

Welcome Back

If you have been following my blog along with Kim's, then you are familiar with Gran, our heavy fisted embroidery teacher and friend. After some internet/server issues, she is back on her blog. Check her out if you can, she has the most adorable doggie, next to mine of course! I'm not sure if you are all familiar with the Quilt Camps that Lindy organizes 4 times a year, but her 2nd camp is coming up, this Sunday, May 17 thru Friday May 22 at Zepher Cove, Lake Tahoe. Yours truly will be in attendance. I usually go in May and September, and believe, I live for these camps. We have so much fun and we get so much done. My BFF, Darlene, aka Roomie is also going, so there will be lots of fun to be had. And if that is not enough, my 22 yr old son just showed me how to down load pictures from my camara, so I will have some pictures to show ya all of the happenings from camp. I am going to try to post some pics from last September's camp, so please be patient. There is also camp in June, but that is such a busy month for us with baseball. I picked out the projects I want to take with me to camp, and a couple of unfinished items. Lets hope they get completed. I better get some rest, so I am ready for next week. Thanks for stopping by, hugs!

The Day After

Well, it is the day after, Mother's Day. I missed the pop tarts and cheerios in bed, but hubby was very gracious about fixing "Horsehoes" for breakfast. Texas Toast with hasbrowns, sausage and milk gravy. I do not eat eggs, and this is our version. There are other versions in the Mid West for Horseshoes. My husband saw it on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. Then it was off to the Farmers Market in town. It was the first of the season. It wasn't bad, only 8 venderr, but then again, it was Mother's Day. I bought some wild onions, brocolli, cherries( Are you jealous, Kim?) and 1 pound of hulled half walnuts. I creamed the wild onions, and steamed the brocolli and pitted the cherries. The walnuts I am going to spice up to take to quilt camp for snacks. Then home we came, and son was up, finally! Then out to the garage, and yep, it got cleaned out. But it was a good thing, we found things we have been missing, sweatshirts, knee pads, and gloves. Most importantly, it was quality family time, which is hard to come by lately, so I will take it. We then bar-b-qued later and my mom came over and we had a feast! Rib Eye Steaks, boneless pork chops and chicken. This way, I don't have to cook too much the next couple of days, and lunch is ready for hubby and son. I also worked on my redwork, I am doing a rooster for my step mom for Christmas. Then off to sweet slumber. I did not realized how tired I was. It was a great day. Now, I need to figure out what to do for Father's Day. Any suggesstions will be greatfully appreciated! I hope you all had wonderful days, and have a great week.

Happy Mother's Day!

Please go to Kim's Big Quilting Adventure for today's entry. It says it all. Hugs to all!

Saturday, May 9, 2009

Today I hung out at BP&HH with Julie. It was slow until this afternoon, and it picked up a bit. I really could not wait to get home, because my mom was coming home after being in Oklahoma visiting my cousin, Tina. She has breast cancer and is getting ready to start her treatment, so mom went back to help out and also for support. My mom is a cancer survivor, 3 times now. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and mom is very unselfish, and always is thinking of others. What a great role model she is. I sometimes lose patience with her, and then I remember all she has done and given up for me, and well as you can imagine, I am put back in my place very quickly. Mom is awesome! I just read a friend's blog, Quiltmom's Journey, please read it if you have a minute. Anna is a very gifted and giving human being, and I only have known her for 2 weeks now, but I feel like I have known her for much longer than that! She has written a beautiful tribute to her mother and mother in law. I was so moved by it, I printed it out and drove straight over to my mom's, and we read it together, and then we both cried together. It is a very moving piece. I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!

Yes Virginia, there is a Friday!

TGIF!!!! Although I will be hanging out tomorrow at BP& HH. It's my ritual. At least I wasn't caged up inside our office today. I got to actually enjoy the sunshine, and boy, what a be-a-u-ti -ful day we had here in Sactown. If you haven't read Kim's blog yet, her and Gran were out on the prowl, for quilt store adventures, which you know includes my favorite hangout, Starbucks! Kim came up with an ideal, she thinks that myself and Darlene should organize a quilt shop tour. I will have to discuss that with my BFF, in our office, which if you have been reading is at Whole Foods. I am going to make this short, since I am actually really tired, which is a good thing. Maybe I will actuall get some sleep tonight. I need to finish my homework and then lights out. I hope you all have beautiful weather that you can enjoy by being outside, whether it is a walk, gardening, or just relaxing in a chair. Have a great week-end! Check back in a couple of days, I should have a surprise for ya!

Is it Friday Yet???

I know this is early, but it is because I am exhausted! I was in our office today working, at a desk, sitting down, 2 15 minute breaks and 1/2 lunch. I mentioned that because in my job, I usually don't have that type of schedule. I visit my clients, find a Starbucks, visit more clients, visit a quilt store, find a Starbucks, find another Starbucks to use the facilities, you get the jist of it. I feel like a caged animal when I have to work in the office at a desk, after having such freedom for 5 years. I try to stay on the positive side, like I am learning to walk in other people's shoes, but today, I had a really hard time convincing myself. The one bright spot was lunch at my favorite place, Whole Foods, and yep,I had pizza and salad. I even ordered a pizza to go to bring home for dinner and cook it. Jason at Whole Foods, recognized me from Wednesday nite and even mentioned to me that he is teaching a class June 20th at 11 am in their classroom/kitchen on how to make pizza. He said I really should take it, since I like pizza so much. I was trying to figure out the subliminal message he was giving me, like, is that all you eat, pizza??!! I have a car sale this week-end, so I need to do some baking tonight also, to take the people at the dealership. I will probably make mini muffins, simple and easy and fast! I also need to catch up on my homework, or Gran will be placing me on the naughty mat, so I will do that during Gray's Anatomy. Here's dreaming on Friday, may it get here not soon enough!

Hump Day

Well, I made it down to Modesto today, but I could not find the new quilt store in Ceres, so on my way home, I stopped off in Manteca to see Jen at Ladybugs Quilt. Today was her 1 year anniversary of the store being open. I am so proud of her! She is such a sweet gal, and her store is so cute, and her employees, well, hum-m, how do I describe Sandy, oh yeah, CRAZY!!!!!! If you are ever down towards Manteca, please do try to stop by and say hi. I had Jo's tonight, so you know what that means, I picked up my BFF, we went to Whole Foods, I had to pick up cookies for class, per Kim's request, (wait isn't she on vacation, hummm) and a treat for me! Lindy is home sick, so Carolyn lead the class, but there were a lot of people absent tonight. Kim got her cookies, and we all did some shopping. My BFF, Darlene gave me a tour of her sewing room, since I am getting ready to get one myself, sometime this century! Her space is just a smidgen larger, but the layout is very workable, so I will have to get her down to my house to help me figure out the layout for my sewing room, or should I say, domain! I left a chicken and rice cassarole in the oven for hubby, so I have lunch tomorrow, or maybe dinner, depending on my job tomorrow. I will be working in the office, processing loans, since we have been getting 100 packages in a day for the last 2 days. One nice thing about working in the office, I get to wear jeans! Just think, 2 more days until the week-end, the countdown begins! Nite.

If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belguim!

Now, don't be shocked, the time is right. I am trying to go to bed earlier than I have been. I haven't been sleeping much lately, so I took my herbal tablet to help me sleep, let's hope it works! I used to love watching the movie, If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belguim, with Suzanne Plesshet, (I am a terrible speller, sorry), and everytime Tuesday rolls around, I always think of that movie. I am a child of the late 60's/70's, but I love retro music, and old movies. Especially on rainy afternoons! I remember as a child, my dad bought me a black/white tv for my 13th birthday. A little history here, we did not get our first tv until 1969, but when we did, we were the first on the block to have a colored tv! Boy, we were living high on cotton! Anyway, on Saturday afternoons, when it was raining, I would curl up on my bed, under 4-5 of my Grandmother's quilts and watch the old B/W movies with Shirley Temple, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Clark Gable, and sometimes my dad would join me and we would watch old Cowboy movies that he saw when he was a young lad. Life was so simple and easy, not a care in the world back then, at least I did not have to worry. I am sure my parents did enough of that for all of us. It was a different time, how I wish my son could have at lease 1 hour of time back in the good old days! Enough of that, work was mainly reports today, running a lot of numbers, mileage reports, corporate visa report, goals for May, ect. Tomorrow, I am heading down to Modesto. I hear that there is a new quilt store in Ceres, so naturally, I will have to check that out. I will give you a full report tomorrow. I also have Jo's tomorrow evening, which means I get to see my BFF, Darlene, and that also means, FOOD! It's good to daydream about the good, old days, now and again. It certainly makes me thankful for all I have, and for my wonderful and loving parents. I know that they are both most likely already asleep in bed, (they are divorce, but they are up with the chickens and down with the chickens!) but I think I will make a note to call them, just to tell them I am thinking of them and I love them. My dad will ask me how much money do I need, and my mom will ask me what happened now! I am glad, they never stopped being my parents!
Here's wishing everyone a Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Monday, Monday

As the song goes, by the Mamas & the Papas, Monday, Monday, it just turns out that way. My boss gave me a wake up call this morning telling me to be ready to head down to Fresno, 2 1/2 hours away to surprise our coworker who had a birthday this past week-end. I knew I had a machine quilting class tonight, so I just told her I would drive. She did not argue, so we meet in Elk Grove with the other Pam in our group, then met up with Deanna in Turlock and onward south to Kristin's. We had a great lunch and then went back to Kristin's house to watch her DVD from when she went skydiving last October in Hawaii. It was so cool! Then back up to Sac Town, dropped everyone off, and up to BP&HH for class. We are learning to machine quilt, so tonight we finally got to get our feet wet, or in my case, drowning! I can already tell you that this is going to involve a lot more time and pratice than I had expected. Lindy is a great teacher, and so-o-o patient with us, thank god! I am going to attempt to machine the quilt that I made at quilt camp last Septemeber. It is Kay England's line of Kitty's. I need to find a backing for it, something with a very busy pattern would be in order, thank you! I better go and get some sleep, it has been a very long day and I am going to need the rest! Hope your week goes better than my Monday! Nite!

Sunday, Day of Rest

I was brought up that Sunday was a day of rest. Well, that is exactly what I did today. After I fixed my family breakfast, Texas Toast French Toast, and applewood smoked bacon, I cleaned up the kitchen and myself, sat on the sofa, under my monkey blanket, and snoozed off and on all afternoon. I haven't been sleeping well for the past few nights, so I need to catch up on some Zz's. I started to feel guilty but then figured what the heck, how often do I do this? It rained off and on, and hubby offered to set my machine up for me to sew, but I just did not feel like it. I have my machine quilting class tomorrow evening, so I will sew then, but today, I am resting. It actually felt good not doing anything, except, I did get the laundry caught up, so I didn't totally rest, but C'est la vie! Here's hoping you have a wonderful start of a new week!

PS- If you go to Gran's blog, she has already posted pictures of her blocks and goody bag items! Thanks Gran!
Well, what a day I had, and I know that each and everyone of you are going to be jealous! Why, you may ask? I went to a Hat Party, that was given by Kim. Oh me, oh my, what a blast we had! We all got party favors, a goody bag stuffed with a sharpen pencil, pretty paper for notes, a lady bug eraser, a pack of green wool, a pack of flower seeds, (I got Cosmos, I thought they were a free drink ticket!) and the cutest pin cushion you have ever seen shaped like a hat! But that was just the beginning, Kim then provided us with a wonderful and delicious spread of all kinds of goodies to eat and drink, finger sandwiches, yummy tea cookies, and lemon pound cake, raspberries glased donut holes, fresh strawberries and hot tea. We had 5 ladies take the class and we all had a great time. We were asking Kim, when she is teaching her next class, we cannot wait! Gran was in class also, which added to the fun factor also. I got 3 complete blocks done, it was time consuming having to help eat all of the goodies that Kim so labored and took the time to make for us! I didn't get a picture of the table of goodies, but she had brought in the cutest teapots, dishes, silver, cloth napkins, the whole 9 yards, just like a real tea party. Kim, a BIG thank you goes out to you! You are so talented, and I am hoping it will rub off on me if I continue to take your classes! I am going to try to get 2-3 mre blocks done tonight while I am on a roll, and hopefully, I will figure out how to post them here for all to see. Take care!

This is a bit early, but I am trying to dry out after the wet day I have had. I thought the rain would be later not sooner, but as my hubby says, that is what I get for thinking! I headed down to Stockton today to visit my clients, and thought, Manteca is just a few more minutes further down 99, so off to Ladybug Quilts. The owner Jen is a sweetheart! (Aren't all quilters?!) She has the cutest shop open for 1 year now, and I have been very lucky to get to know her. I just think it is so neat how each quilt shop has their own little kitch, meaning their own style. I think that is why I fell in love with Bearpaws & Hollyhocks. Lindy is great, so generous and giving in every way! Then there is my "Quilt Mom", Carol Ann, who is just over the top! I started visiting the store on my way home from the Roseville Automall, just to get some estrogen time. Dealing with men all day is very trying on my nerves sometimes! Well, one thing led to another, and the next thing I knew, Lindy asked if I would like to work there. I thought to myself, is she pulling my leg? That would be a dream come true for me, even though I knew deep down inside she knew I was a wildcard, but, I have learned so-o-o much from everyone there at the store and made so many new and dear friends, I cannot imagine not having BP&HH in my life. Anyway, as I make my travels around, I will let you know about the quilt stores I visit, and anything else that is interesting. If you know of any quilt stores in the Central Ca area, please let me know. Stay dry out there! I will take pictures tomorrow of Kim's Hat Party class and attempt to post them to share them with everyone. Thanks for everyone's encouragement!
